Senator Andy Kim Visit
On February 19th, ICGMC had the honor of welcoming Senator Andy Kim to our office. During his visit, we shared more about our Neighbors Helping Neighbors model and the daily impact of volunteers who provide rides, friendly visits, and reassurance to older adults and adults with disabilities throughout Mercer County.
At the conclusion of his visit Senator Kim joined two of our volunteers for a friendly visit to spend time with a Care Receiver, Maureen, in her home. What followed was a powerful reminder of why this work matters. During their conversation, Maureen and the Senator discovered a deeply personal connection, both having walked the road of loving someone with Alzheimer’s. It was a moment rooted in shared experience, compassion, and understanding.
Caregiving is not just a service. It is a bond. It is community in action.
We are grateful to Senator Kim for taking the time to learn about our mission, to listen to the stories of those we serve, and to witness firsthand the quiet, steady impact of neighbors helping neighbors.
