Thank You for making 2023 Shining Lights brighter than ever!

Thank you to all gala attendees, sponsors, donors, and community friends for your generous support and participation in our 2023 Shining Lights Gala event.

We hope you enjoyed the gala as much as we did. It was a wonderful night of celebration, entertainment, and inspiration while we honored the contributions of outstanding community members Ms. Linda Nowicki and the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Advisory Council.

Thanks to you, we were able to raise funds essential for providing free programs and services for homebound elderly and adults with disabilities in our community.

2023 Shining Lights Honorees

This year we honored the contributions of outstanding community members and partners in our mission Ms. Linda Nowicki and the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Advisory Council.

Linda Nowicki

Linda Nowicki

Trained as a volunteer for Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County in December 2012, Linda Nowicki finds “joy in the idea of making a (small) positive impact in the community” although perhaps she has that backward. In the past eleven years, she has been responsible for bringing tremendous joy to more than 1,000 local homebound elderly and people with disabilities who have received free caregiving services. Familiar with the devotion to caring for elderly loved ones, Linda understood the importance of supporting our services, taking the opportunity to do so through the Employee Giving Fund at her place of employment, Church & Dwight Co. Inc. To qualify for this funding, a non-profit organization must be nominated by an employee sponsor. Linda, serving as our employee sponsor, has nominated us 11 times to receive funding from the Church & Dwight Employee Giving Fund. In total, her support has resulted in $98,000, an amount that has surpassed her hope of making a “small impact.”

Originally from Sayreville, NJ, Linda credits her mother for instilling in her the importance of honesty, hard work, and kindness, qualities which she herself now models for her beautiful daughters, Grace and Sophia.

Rosemary Durkin

Rosemary D. Durkin

Rosemary D. Durkin grew up watching her father, Thomas, actively involved in many service activities. Combined with her Aunt Catherine’s example of being 1 in 5 women in her graduating class from law school, Rosemary’s excellence as a trusts and estates attorney for Stark & Stark is matched only by her long-term dedication to service. Perhaps the only Cleveland Guardians fan in Newtown, PA, she and her husband Jeffrey Best have two children Michael and Deirdre, and two grandchildren, Charlotte and Jude.

Richard Eckstein

Richard S. Eckstein

Richard S. Eckstein has spent his life in service to others. With a career in the military and later, the government, many people in the Hamilton Township, NJ, area are familiar with Rich and his servant leadership. Still generous with his time, he now includes his wife, 3 daughters, 2 sons-in-law, and 4 grandchildren to his favorite ways to spend his day.

Francis Kowalski

Francis Kowalski

Francis Kowalski grew up in Trenton, in a vibrant community surrounded by good food, family, and friends that felt like family. Knowing the importance of community, it was no surprise when Frank continued to be involved in service organizations following his time in the Army. Retired from the NJ Departments of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, Frank has one son, one daughter, and 5 grandchildren.

Jean C. Malloy

Jean C. Malloy

Jean C. Malloy knew from an early age that she would spend her life helping others. Service was a part of the daily life in dairy-farming tobacco-raising Amelia County, VA. Whether her family was on the receiving end of generosity, or the giving end, Jean learned that communities are meant to help each other. Her career in Public Health Education allowed her to do just that throughout the state of NJ. Married to her husband Bill for 53 years, they have two sons and one daughter-in-law.

Elizabeth Solan

Elizabeth Solan

Elizabeth Solan has given Interfaith Caregivers an incredible amount of service, leadership, and expertise. Her career as a nurse fit her natural desire to help others. Active in state-level committees, many residents have unknowingly benefitted from her concern for the well-being of all people. Dedicated to the mission of Interfaith Caregivers since 2007, she and her husband of 55 short years, Patrick, have an amazing son and daughter-in-law and are proud grandparents to Peter James.
