Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County has partnered with the New Jersey Division on Aging and Rowan University’s Institute on Successful Aging to provide a program especially for caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
This program is free-of-charge and takes place every Thursday evening, 6:30 – 8:00 pm, from September 22 through November 17, 2016. To register, please call Madeline Bobb at 609-631-8182 or Kathy McGlinchy at 609-890-8244.
Certified facilitators will work with small groups on practicing stress management and relaxation techniques, recognizing feelings of grief and loss, learning to deal with challenging behaviors, and the importance of self-care.
This program was developed at the University of Texas Health Science Center and has been demonstrated to improve the quality of life for caregivers of dementia patients by helping them manage stress and develop coping skills.
Madeline Bobb and Kathleen McGlinchy, volunteers from Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County, were among the first group of master trainers certified in the eastern United States.
