The Mercer County Board of Social Services has been serving the citizens of Mercer County since 1932. It was established under the authority of New Jersey Statutes Annotated (NJSA) 44. The Adult Protective Service Unit provides social services to vulnerable adults residing in the community who are at risk for harm because they cannot adequately protect themselves.
Allegations of abuse, neglect or exploitation of the elderly, blind or disabled are investigated by our staff and various services are provided to eliminate the risk. Adult Protective Services are provided regardless of income.
Adult Social Services also coordinates support services to elderly, blind or disabled adults in the community with referrals to Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County. Referrals are also made to Adult Social Services when Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer Countyhas concerns about abuse, neglect or exploitation of its care-receivers.
