Through planned giving you can ensure compassionate care for the homebound in the years ahead while reducing your tax liability.

Forms of planned giving include designating Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County as a beneficiary of your will, life insurance policy or retirement account.

Wills and Trusts

Giving to Interfaith Caregivers through your Will or Trust is referred to as a “bequest.” A bequest from your estate may include cash, securities, real estate, and/or personal property. It can be for a specific amount or for a percentage of your estate.

Why Include Interfaith Caregivers in my Will?

  • Tax Wise – A charitable gift through your estate may reduce estate taxes.
  • Revocable – You may change the beneficiaries of your estate at any time.
  • Flexible – Your bequest can be directed to a particular program, or for Interfaith Caregivers’ general charitable purposes.
  • Comfortable – A bequest allows you to retain your assets throughout your life.

How Do I Make a Bequest to Interfaith Caregivers?

If you are writing your Will or Trust, you will need to include specific language that describes your support of Interfaith Caregivers. If you already have a Will, you can add a codicil that amends the Will to include Interfaith Caregivers. Or, if you have a Trust, you can amend the Trust to include Interfaith Caregivers.

The following is sample language for a bequest:

Unrestricted Bequest:

I give to Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County, Inc., located in Hamilton, New Jersey, the sum of $____________ [or specific property] to be used by the organization for its general charitable purposes.

OR

I give the balance of my estate [or ____% of the balance of my estate] to Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County, Inc., located in Hamilton, New Jersey, to be used by the organization for its general charitable purposes.
